Good morning, editor
My name is Kendra Hummer. I’m writing this letter to the community leaders to discuss accessible parking in Auburn, Indiana. Here is a little bit of background information about myself: I have quadriplegic cerebral palsy, Which means I'm in a wheelchair full-time, so accessible parking is essential for me. It’s also very concerning that the town I grew up in has limited accessible parking.
Town Square has only four parking spots that are accessible for wheelchair users. The parking spaces can become dangerous because they directly face traffic, which is not functional for individuals with physical conditions who need help with mobility issues. The community has ignored this parking issue for too long, and we cannot ignore it anymore. I want to remind everyone that universal design can work for anyone and positively impact the community.
Thank you so much for your understanding of this issue.
Sincerely Kendra Hummer
